Cachet – Bringing Slack emojis and profile pictures to the web

This month, we’re excited to feature Cachet, a project by community member Kieran! Cachet acts as a caching and hotlinking middleware, allowing users to access their custom Slack emojis and profile pictures outside of Slack with a simple URL rewrite. It’s already being used in production at Hack Club’s Waka to help teenagers track their time for High Seas, a program that empowers young coders to explore and build. Kieran is part of a thriving Slack-based community of over 26,000 teenagers passionate about tech and coding, where Slack OAuth plays a key role in their ecosystem.

Updates to keep on your radar

  • A big upgrade to Slack’s API docs is on the way: We’re hard at work on a major refresh of Slack’s API documentation—both front-end and back-end—to make navigating and using our docs easier than ever. While we’re not quite at the finish line, the launch is drawing closer, and we can’t wait to share what’s in store. Stay tuned for updates as we continue refining the experience, and be sure to check the API changelog for the latest progress and sneak peeks!

  • New partner offers just landed: The Slack Partner Offers Marketplace is your go-to destination for exclusive deals from our trusted partners—available only to Slack customers. And now, we’re excited to welcome Heroku, Drata, and more to the lineup! Stay tuned for new ways to unlock value and discover tools that can enhance how you work in Slack.

  • New workshop: Build a random reaction GIF generator: Looking for a fun way to explore Workflow Builder? Check out our latest hands-on workshop at slack.dev! You’ll learn how to create a random reaction GIF generator using Workflow Builder and the Giphy connector—a great starting point for building similar automations to bring more efficiency (and fun!) to your workflows.

We’re always blown away by what our community creates—and we want to highlight you next! Whether it’s a handy tool, a step-by-step guide, or an insightful article, if you’re proud of it, we want to hear all about it.
