Platform Newsletter - July 2025
Published July 10, 2025
Welcome to July—halfway through the year, and we’re just getting started!
It’s the season of shipping new features, rethinking old workflows, and maybe squeezing in a little vacation in between. This month, we’re excited to share fresh updates across the Slack platform, from open-source tools to smarter AI features that help you spend less time digging through threads and more time doing your best work.
And while summer might slow some things down, our changelogs and community projects are heating up 🔥—keep scrolling to see what’s new (and what you might want to build next).

Bring AI agents into the conversation with Agentforce
What if you could build an AI-powered agent in Slack that helps your team, talks like a teammate, and automates your workflows—without writing tons of code? In this illustrated guide, learn how Agentforce makes it easy to bring smart, contextual AI agents right into your Slack channels and conversations.

Slack CLI joins our open source family
Big news: the Slack CLI is now open source! Whether you’re curious about how it works, want to suggest a fix, or contribute a new feature, the door is open. Check out the code, spin up your own build, and help shape the future of the Slack CLI alongside the dev community.
Cassava: Rethinking workplace training in Slack
This month’s featured project comes from Michael, who created Cassava, a Slack-based tool designed to make workplace training more accessible and engaging. Built using Slack’s OAuth integration and slash commands, Cassava delivers training content right where teams are already working—inside Slack.
By using Block Kit layouts and interactive elements, Cassava helps teams roll out training programs that employees can complete without leaving their conversations. It’s a great example of how Slack’s platform can be used to bring learning into the flow of work.
Inspired to build something of your own? Explore our Slack workshops and docs to learn how to integrate OAuth, Block Kit, and more into your next project.
